About the role
The Senior Software Engineer (UI) plays a pivotal role in designing and implementing the visual elements of software platforms that support Osmometry instrumentation. From new systems to legacy applications, you’ll bring intuitive, high-performance interfaces to life, working alongside a talented team of Software, Firmware, and Hardware Engineers. You will get to work on a new product from the beginning!
In our fast-paced commercial environment, success requires a strong bias toward action. You’ll make informed technical decisions, gather critical input from stakeholders, and escalate issues when needed, all while driving innovation and usability across our product suite. This role is located in our Norwood office and have the ability to be hybrid.
What we are looking for in you
- Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or Science field
- Commercial experience with the development, launch, and support of touchscreen based embedded user interface applications for medical devices, scientific lab instruments, and/or other industrial devices subject to regulated software development lifecycles such as IEC 62304, ISO 14971, ISO 13485, ISO 9001
- Experience with cross-platform development and deployment of .NET applications, using Avalonia, .NET MAUI, or Xamarin for embedded devices
Responsibilities
- Be accountable for development and delivery of assigned software features and/or applications within a cross-functional team, from design through validation, within an Agile Software development team
- Maintain and expand unit testing coverage as appropriate to ensure the stability of software platforms
- Troubleshoot, investigate, and resolve bugs in both established and growing software applications
- Refactor existing code to proactively avoid roadblocks and avoid technical debt
- Take part in group breakdown of new software features into actionable work items, and work with the team to estimate the time and complexity involved in them
UI Responsibilities
- Work collaboratively with Technical Program Manager and Product Managers on user interface and experience mockups for new product development
- Implement software design language and branding goals from Marketing
- Participate in usability studies, A/B testing, and actively seek internal stakeholder feedback on designs
- Document screen storyboards for user guide, service guide, and clinical device documentation
