Position: Video Engineer

Position Overview: The primary focus of this role is to design, purchase, install, repair and maintain analog, digital and high-definition broadcast equipment as well as computer and IT equipment associated with the operation and broadcast signals of the network. You will maintain the technical integrity of Mediacom operating facilities including the control room/truck, studio, production equipment and facilities to ensure high-quality video and audio content from live events and edited productions, delivering a consistent, quality, predictable production experience and outstanding results.

Position Responsibilities

  • Implement technical vision and strategies.
  • Consult on internal projects and initiatives, researching and recommending leading-edge technology solutions.
  • Abstract and apply new technologies and relay processes.
  • Collaborate within the network’s engineering team to implement state-of-the-art technical facilities.
  • Ensure all equipment is FCC compliant.
  • Stay knowledgeable of competition and emerging technologies and standards.
  • Monitor and report progress of the department and technical projects toward engineering goals; communicate feedback and analyses into actionable insight.
  • Mentor team members.
  • Respond to employees’ requests regarding tools and resources needed for their job.
  • Determine solutions through process improvements with existing technology or purchasing new equipment.
  • Identify cost-saving solutions with new equipment.
  • Assess solutions to ensure cost-efficient process improvements and/or equipment deployment.
  • Act as technical quality supervisor for studio productions, live events, and remote feeds.
  • Adjust, align and integrate truck equipment inventory to provide a mobile production facility for events (camera, lenses, video servers, and other devices).
  • Read and understand signal flow diagrams.
  • Understand, configure and maintain broadcast transmission including audio, video and fiber systems; understand video and audio file formats for import/export to post-production and IP-delivered sources.
  • Assist in evaluating and recommending solutions.
  • Fill in as necessary in different production roles (eg, camera operator, graphics, replay, etc.).
  • Provide basic operational training when required.
  • Must be able to work nights and weekends; variable schedule as necessary.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Position Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Electrical/Electronic Computer Science or relevant production experience required.
  • Experience with video technologies.
  • Familiarity with Digital Rights Management.
  • Experience with MPEG2 Transport Stream.
  • Good communicator, able to analyze and clearly articulate complex issues and technologies understandably and engagingly.
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills, adaptable, proactive and willing to take ownership.
  • Ability to prepare and present to executive level.
  • Experience driving large trucks and/or towing.

Disclaimer

The salary range for this position is $60,000.00 to $80,000.00. Offers consider factors such as years of related work experience, relevant skills and qualifications, education level, and certifications/licenses.
