Grand Canyon Education (GCE) is a rapidly growing educational service company that has long been an industry leader in providing educational, operational and technological support services to the post-secondary education sector. This position entails joining a web design and development team called Academic Web Services within Grand Canyon Education to build custom web apps. Academic Web Services is a close-knit team that constructs and maintains a wide variety of applications using the latest web technologies. We\'re passionate about web design and development and are focused on delivering quality products to our customers in a team setting driven by strong culture and a good working atmosphere.

We are hiring web developers at all levels of experience. Requirements below reflect the minimum experience level.

What you will do

  • Code and maintain responsive, accessible web apps using Sveltekit NodeJS PHP SQL Docker Containers.
  • Work independently or as a member of project teams.
  • Write readable, git-versioned, maintainable and reliable code.
  • Work on a variety of projects simultaneously with minimal supervision.
  • Solve problems and make decisions with attention to detail.
  • Ensure tasks and projects are completed on schedule.
  • Forecast time required for project completion.
  • Provide application support during planned and unplanned maintenance windows.
  • Meet both departmental standards and customer expectations.
  • Demonstrate interpersonal communication skills including verbal, written, and active listening.
  • Stay abreast of current concepts, techniques, and technologies.
  • Actively pursue and engage in professional development opportunities.

What you will need

  • Some frontend or backend web development experience.
  • Must have sample code available for view.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and current web development frameworks.
  • Familiarity with version-control software, test automation, as well as declarative, functional, and object-oriented programming.
  • Able to function as an effective team member in a highly collaborative team environment.
  • Actively participate in some or all stages of the product lifecycle by working independently or as a member of a project team.
  • Demonstrate proficiency with role specific technology and procedures.
  • Demonstrate ability to describe technical concepts in a way that can be understood by non-technical users, such as in a project brainstorming setting or directly with client partners.
  • Maintain technical documentation as necessary and appropriate.
  • Proactively solicit peer code review and share works-in-progress with appropriate stakeholders.
  • Meet all departmental standards and partner expectations.
  • Interact effectively with all project stakeholders at all times.
  • Meet all project deadlines.
  • Provide accurate development time estimates for each project.
  • Follow all departmental processes and procedures regarding project planning and delivery.
  • Build user interface applications and back-end databases using various programming and scripting languages.
  • Adhere to organizational commitments and federal regulations regarding accessibility and usability standards.
  • Build cross-browser and cross-platform compatible solutions.
  • Provide application support during planned and unplanned maintenance windows.
