The role you’ll contribute

The Lead Technical Writer for Technology Services is responsible for managing the documentation lifecycle across a broad portfolio of IT service domains including Compute Services, Storage & Backup, Network Services, Identity & Access Management (IAM), Endpoint Management, Application & Platform Support, Monitoring & Observability, Security & Compliance, Cloud Management and others. This role combines hands-on technical writing with leadership responsibilities, guiding a team of writers (onshore and offshore) to produce clear, accurate, and accessible documentation. The ideal candidate will possess strong writing and organizational skills, general technical acumen, and the ability to collaborate effectively with subject matter experts (SMEs) and cross-functional teams.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure documentation standards, templates, and lifecycle processes across Technology Services.
  • Mentor a team of technical writers, including offshore contributors, ensuring consistency and quality across deliverables.
  • Create and maintain technical documentation such as work instructions, operational procedures, support guides, and architecture overviews.
  • Work closely with SMEs to gather information, validate content, and ensure technical accuracy.
  • Review and edit documentation for clarity, grammar, formatting, and adherence to organizational standards.
  • Support the development and maintenance of internal knowledge bases and self-service portals using AI capabilities to enhance effectiveness.
  • Track documentation usage, gaps, and effectiveness; report on progress and improvements.
  • Update documentation in response to service changes, incidents, and enhancements.
  • Collaborate with service owners, project managers, and executives to align documentation with business needs.
  • Identify opportunities to improve documentation processes, tools, and team capabilities.

Knowledge and Skills Required

  • 5+ Years Work Experience
  • Highly developed written and verbal communication skills targeted at a diverse audience
  • Ability to work collaboratively with business partners and IT colleagues
  • Knowledge of major technology infrastructure components including but not limited to: Networking, Servers, Storage, Databases, Cloud Computing, Automation, Containerization, Systems Management, Desktop Engineering, etc.

Education and Experience Required

  • High School Grad or Equivalent Required

Education and Experience Preferred

  • Bachelor\'s Preferred
