Overview
HDR Engineering is seeking a Data Center Substation Physical Designer to join our Power Delivery team, focusing on mission-critical data center projects. This role offers growth opportunities for individuals with experience in high voltage substation design and CAD drafting.
Responsibilities
- Perform independent substation design tasks, including CAD drawings, model development, and field reviews.
- Create physical substation drawings such as General Arrangements, Grounding & Conduit Plans, and Foundation Plans.
- Develop material lists with detailed specifications.
- Conduct basic electrical calculations and support engineering teams.
- Adhere to client standards and exercise judgment on design criteria.
- Communicate effectively with project teams and clients.
Qualifications
- Associate degree or technical certification, combined with relevant experience.
- At least 5 years of experience in substation CAD layout and design.
- Experience with high voltage substation components and drawings.
- Knowledge of applicable codes (NESC, IEEE, NEC).
- Strong communication and organizational skills.
Preferred Skills
- Experience in protection and control systems design.
- Proficiency with 3D design software and document management tools.
