Content Writer
Organization Overview:
Greenstand is a 501c3 nonprofit organization based in Alaska, United States. Our focus is alleviating poverty and combatting climate change through technology. Greenstand helps rural farmers earn income by planting and tracking trees, which are turned into Impact Tokens for trading in the Treetracker app. Treetracker by Greenstand is an open-source application that verifies tree planting initiatives, making reforestation efforts transparent and accountable.
Volunteer Description:
Greenstand is a dynamic community of 2,000+ self-motivated volunteers, change-makers, and globally distributed teams. We seek passionate and creative content writers focusing on environmental justice and farmer compensation for carbon. The ideal candidate will be able to work independently and as part of cross-functional teams. This experience is perfect for environmental journalists and blog article writers ready to a purpose-driven mission. Content Writers will collect and write 500-word articles to publish 4 times per month. Gain exposure while contributing to a worthy cause throughout a 12-month project. Scope:
- Collect content from various sources
- Write 500-word blog articles about environmental justice and farmer compensation for carbon
- Publish four blog articles per month
We are also seeking volunteers with experience in the following skills:
- Mastery of the English language
- Written and Verbal Communication

- Outgoing
- Reliable
- Creativity
- Basic Computer Skills
- Google Workspace
- Slack
Qualifications:
- 0-1+ years of experience writing and publishing blog articles.
- Familiarity with environmental justice issues, carbon offsets, or a related field is preferred.
- Ability to meet deadlines
- Ability to collect and organize content
- Ability to write clear and concise articles
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Available for 5 hours/week and weekend status updates.
