UX/UI Researcher – Shop Team

Chicago, IL (Hybrid)
Schedule:
Monday - Friday, first shift
Job Type:
W2 Contract
Pay Rate:
$68 - 73/hourly with optional benefits packages including PTO, medical insurance, and 401k
Position Overview This role supports the Shop Team by applying user research and human-computer interaction principles to shape intuitive and effective user interfaces. The researcher will collaborate with designers, engineers, strategists, and leadership to define and document the preferred user experience and interface strategy.
Key Responsibilities
Translate research and test findings into actionable, prioritized UI design recommendations
Clarify user, customer, and business needs and convert them into compelling interaction concepts
Facilitate and apply research methodologies
Integrate user research into product design and design practices
Collaborate with design teams on prototype requirements for testing and iteration
Document key goals, themes, elements, and behaviors for downstream UI teams
Create shareable UX artifacts (e.g., journey maps, storyboards, user flows)
Document the overall UX strategy (UI, physical attributes, guiding principles, etc.)
Prioritize research needs and backlog based on the product roadmap
Candidate Requirements
Experience:
5+ years in UX Research, preferably in corporate or B2B environments
Education:
B.S. or higher in Human Computer Interaction, Human Factors, Psychology, or related field
Alternatively, 2–3 additional years of experience may substitute for degree
Technical Skills (Required)
Strong empathy and ability to synthesize stakeholder and user sentiment
Adaptive thinking and openness to change
Deep understanding of UI best practices, design theory, and layout/prototyping tools
Ability to work independently and collaboratively
Experience managing multiple projects and deadlines
Portfolio demonstrating process and expertise
