REPORTER, STATE POLITICS, WBUR News and Programming — Boston University WBUR seeks a reporter with a passion for covering Beacon Hill, the governor and governor's office, the state legislature, and state politics. The reporter will lead WBUR's coverage of the 2026 gubernatorial race, develop scoops, produce regular enterprise stories, and respond quickly to breaking news. The position requires source-building at the State House in person, reviewing documents, and submitting public records requests. The reporter will work with editors to set priorities and pursue daily and longer-term stories across formats (audio, digital, live events, social, video). Responsibilities

Cover state political news, including the governor's office and state legislature. Lead WBUR's coverage of the 2026 gubernatorial race. Develop scoops and enterprise reporting; respond quickly to breaking news. Build sources across a diverse constituency; collaborate with editors to set priorities. Produce stories for multiple platforms and formats. Review documents and data; file public records requests as needed. Qualifications

At least three to six years of related experience. Passion for public media journalism. Strong editorial judgment. Ability to cover a wide variety of stories and assignments. Experience producing stories for multiple platforms. Strong research and organizational skills. Communicates clearly in all forms. Fluency in multiple languages a plus.
