Geographic Information Systems role at WSP in the U.S. Overview

WSP is seeking a Geographic Information Systems candidate with 1-3 years of experience to support the Southwest Mountain Civil Ground Engineering Team. The role provides technical assistance for capturing, modeling, and analyzing geographical and tabular data to illustrate and determine spatial relationships on client projects. Responsibilities include supporting multi-site/phase projects, spatial mapping, pattern discovery, and developing mapping applications at the intersection of data analysis, programming, and cartography. The position supports environmental impact assessment, master planning, permitting, and restoration activities, ensuring work meets industry standards. Your Impact

Lead and conduct GIS surveys and reports from field sites for project research and investigation. Support quality control standards and procedures for accurate data measurement, documentation, and high-level analysis. Model and prepare topographic maps, thematic maps, graphs, and tabular data using GPS, aerial imagery, and other tools to determine project locations, site impact, and sensitivities. Verify integrity and accuracy of geospatial data from field, client, or public sources; prepare GIS segments for impact assessment and permitting activities (e.g., CEQA, NEPA). Prepare data visualizations such as maps, tables, charts, and reports for interpretation or presentation of findings. Oversee data collection guidelines, database management, and a digital library of geographic maps. Provide input to planners, scientists, and engineers on spatial data analysis, including threat mitigation and permitting activities. Assist cross-functional teams, coordinate with CADD and other technicians on project documents. Maintain or modify GIS databases and proficiency with geodatabase design. Publish and manage ArcGIS Online solutions, dashboards, and hosted services; interact professionally with regulatory agencies, communities, subcontractors, and clients. Remain current in latest GIS practices and adhere to WSPs Code of Conduct and policies. Perform additional responsibilities as required by business needs. Required Qualifications

Bachelors Degree in GIS, Geography, Environmental Science, Planning, or related field. 1-3 years of relevant post-education experience with GIS. Significant experience with ESRIs ArcGIS platform. Understanding of AutoCAD, Python, Visual Basic, Arcade, or SQL programming. Strong analytical skills with experience in research techniques, data modeling, digitizing, and maintaining project records and databases. Proficiency with GPS/GNSS field equipment, plotting coordinates, and data collection. Experience coordinating with clients, regulatory permitting, and resource agencies, communities, and technical staff. Task management experience with small to mid-level projects, including tracking hours and expenses. Effective interpersonal and communication skills for diverse audiences. Self-leadership with attention to detail, multi-tasking, and prioritization in a dynamic environment. Ability to work independently and provide analytical findings with QA/QC adherence. Proficiency in business writing, office software, and web mapping tools. Critical thinking and problem-solving skills for research and data interpretation. Commitment to workplace safety and adherence to WSP health, safety, and harassment policies. Flexible schedule and potential travel as project requirements dictate. Preferred Qualifications

Previous consulting experience. Experience with ArcMap and ArcGIS Pro; publishing ArcGIS Online hosted services, web maps, Survey123, dashboards, and other web solutions. Benefits and Compensation

WSP provides a comprehensive benefits package including medical, dental, vision, disability, life insurance, retirement savings, paid leave, and other programs. Compensation: Expected Salary: $65,900 - $85,600. WSP USA reserves the right to pay more or less than the posted range based on factors including education, experience, and location. About WSP
