Leidos is seeking a Distribution Designer to work in the Concord, New Hampshire or Framingham, MA area.

Successful candidates will have an interest in developing construction work packages for electric distribution systems using various software and standards. Projects may involve overhead (OH), underground (UG), or urban (URD) environments, including joint use make-ready and street light projects.

Work packages will be developed using Geographic Information Systems (GIS), Computer Aided Design (CAD), Work Management Systems (WMS), and other client systems. The role requires performing engineering calculations, including structural analysis of poles, guying, cable pulling, electric demand, fault currents, and coordination of protective devices.

Additional responsibilities include preparing forestry trimming requests, facilitating permit and Right-of-Way acquisition, developing Bills of Materials (BOM), estimating costs, and customer advocacy such as easements or calculating customer Contributions in Aid of Construction (CIAC).

Distribution Designer Responsibilities:

  1. Design and develop construction work packages for electrical overhead and underground distribution systems (4kV to 138kV), focusing on overloaded transformers, inspection and maintenance, joint use, and inspection reports.
  2. Ensure quality control, safety, and compliance with project scope, schedule, and budget.
  3. Field pole locations and document existing conditions; equipment and mileage are reimbursable.

Required Education & Experience:

  1. BS degree preferred; additional experience may substitute for education.
  2. Experience working with a utility in design roles.
  3. Ability to work in the field approximately half of the work week.
  4. Familiarity with Pole Loading software (O-Calc, SPIDA Calc, Pole Foreman) and SAP.
  5. Strong communication skills with clients and project teams.
  6. Experience with distribution design projects involving medium voltage switchgear, voltage conversion, and automation.
  7. Experience developing civil and electrical packages for complex cable/conduit in urban environments.

Preferred Experience:

  1. AutoCAD, Civil 3D, PLS-CADD, MicroStation, GIS experience is a plus.

Pay Range: $50,050.00 - $90,475.00
