Position Summary
The Senior Designer plays a key role in developing trend-right, consumer-focused products for Beacon Crafts client and internal brand programs. This position combines strong creative vision and innovative thinking with technical precision, bringing concepts from trend research through production-ready specifications. The Senior Designer also acts as a resource and mentor to junior design staff, supporting workflow efficiency, team culture, and cross-functional collaboration.
Responsibilities
- Develop trend-right, consumer-focused product concepts based on research and client briefs.
- Translate concepts into production-ready specifications, technical flats, and mockups.
- Create mood boards and CMF (color, material, finish) directions and iconography that communicate the design vision.
- Interpret client-provided and internal Product Development Briefs (PDBs) into feasible designs meeting manufacturing requirements.
- Prepare presentation-ready materials, such as white box plans, POGs, end-product renderings, and mockups.
- Act as a creative resource and mentor for junior designers; support workflow efficiency and process improvements.
- Represent the design department in cross-functional meetings and vendor communications; foster a collaborative, positive team culture.
Technical Proficiency & Qualifications
- Required: Adobe Illustrator, Adobe Photoshop
- Preferred: Adobe InDesign or other Adobe Creative Suite programs
- Microsoft Office Suite: Teams, PowerPoint, Excel, Word
- Project management tools: Monday.com or equivalent (preferred)
- Trend research and concept development: interpret trend direction into commercially viable product concepts; conduct ongoing trend research through comps, retail and e-commerce monitoring, social media, product reviews, blogs, and other consumer insights channels.
- Surface art & graphic design: create original artwork aligned to trend and product needs (hand lettering/typography, CMF palettes and direction).
- Product design & technical specifications: translate briefs into designs that meet manufacturing requirements; develop production-ready specs, flats, and mockups.
- Prepare presentation-ready materials (e.g., mood boards, POGs, renderings).
- Ability to collaborate with teams and mentor junior designers; uphold a collaborative, positive team culture.
