Responsibilities
- Monitor the floors to maintain a safe environment for students.
- Aid in emergency situations such as evacuations, medical emergencies, thefts, etc.
- Keep Library staff informed of security concerns; file incident reports.
- Aid in nightly closing procedures, ensuring all patrons have vacated and the building is secured.
- Understand and enforce the library’s rules of conduct; explain policies to rule breakers.
- Call 911 for medical emergencies and for behavior that may cause injury or property damage; contact campus police on non-emergency extensions when appropriate.
- Ensure a University Injury/Illness form is submitted for any injury/illness sustained by an employee or student, even if 911 is not called.
- Fill out internal incident reports when campus police are contacted or when administration should be aware of incidents in the library.
- Understand and be prepared to carry out all library emergency procedures as outlined in the Library Emergency Action Plan.
- Comply with Title IX policies and procedures and report incidents appropriately.
Minimum Qualifications
- Proven history of working with young adults.
- Evidence of effective conflict resolution.
- CPR certification.
- Ability to work well with diverse populations.
- Strong interpersonal skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Prior law enforcement experience preferred.
