Overview

We are seeking a compassionate, creative and skilled Board-Certified Music Therapist (BC-MT) to join our multidisciplinary team at Spectrum Music Therapy on a contingent basis. This position focuses on delivering high-quality music therapy services to children and adolescents diagnosed with autism spectrum disorder (ASD). The ideal candidate will bring enthusiasm for neurodiversity-affirming care, strong clinical judgment, and a flexible, collaborative spirit.

Responsibilities

  • Provide individual and/or group music therapy sessions to children with autism, using evidence-based and individualized interventions.
  • Collaborate with families and caregivers to develop treatment goals and strategies that support developmentally, communication, emotional, sensory and social needs.
  • Develop and maintain individualized treatment plans, session notes, and progress documentation in compliance with HIPAA and practice policies.
  • Utilize a strengths-based and child-centered approach that respects neurodiversity and promotes self-expression and emotional regulation.
  • Participate in team meetings, peer supervision, and professional development opportunities when available.
  • Participate in administration time creating and developing various programmatic needs as Spectrum Music Therapy is a beginner non-profit.
  • Maintain current certification through the Board Certification of Music Therapists (CBMT) and adhere to the American Music Therapy Association (AMTA) Code of Ethics and Standards of Practice.
  • Other duties as identified.

Qualifications

  • Board Certification in Music Therapy (MT-BC) through the Certification Board for Music Therapists (CBMT)
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in music therapy from an AMTA-approved program
  • Minimum of one (1) year of experience working with children with ASD is strongly desired (clinical internship counts)
  • Strong documentation, organizational, and communication skills
  • Able to work independently with flexibility and integrity
  • Must pass background check

Schedule

  • Flexible, based on caseload and client availability. May include evenings and weekends.
  • Please note Spectrum Music Therapy is a beginner non-profit, so we welcome a candidate willing to collaborate on this and potentially increase hours as they become available.
  • The selected candidate, alongside a member of the organization’s leadership team, will meet with enrolled families prior to the start of therapy sessions to identify strengths, concerns and treatment goals.
  • Contingent/per-diem hours are based on client referrals and scheduling availability.
  • Sessions will take place in clinic and primarily in a group setting. Some individual sessions will be offered based on child’s needs and/or at the parents’ request.
  • Basic instruments will be provided by the organization.
  • Pay-rate will be discussed between the candidate and the hiring manager; factors include experience, education, hours, and organization budget.
  • We are looking to hire, onboard and start the selected candidate ASAP.
