Here & Now, WBUR’s flagship daily mid-day news magazine, stands out with its unique editorial partnership with NPR. The program reaches nearly 500 radio stations nationwide and attracts five million listeners each week. It airs live Monday through Friday from 12 p.m. to 2 p.m. ET, with updates and rollovers from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. ET. Here & Now is looking for a creative and innovative producer to be part of the dynamic team producing this daily program. As a producer, you will conceive, pitch, research and execute story ideas across all platforms, working closely with the program’s hosts and editors. The producer will be skilled in editing audio and able to provide editorial support for the hosts, as well as work with audio engineers to ensure all systems are working optimally in the studio. You will attend daily editorial news meetings, monitor news sources across the country, and develop new angles to provide clarity and context for our audience. We are looking for someone who is curious about the world and passionate about news and storytelling, and who enjoys the adrenaline rush of live, breaking news. This position is Boston-based.

Responsibilities

  • Conceive, pitch, research, and execute story ideas across all platforms, in collaboration with hosts and editors.
  • Edit audio and provide editorial support for hosts; coordinate with audio engineers to ensure studio systems are functioning optimally.
  • Attend daily editorial news meetings and monitor national news to develop fresh angles and provide context for audiences.
  • Work in a fast-paced environment with a focus on accuracy, clarity, and engaging storytelling.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience
  • Proficiency in audio editing software
  • Ability to write clear and concise copy on deadline
  • Experience working on a daily news program
  • Minimum of five years relevant experience

Compensation and Status

This position is covered under the SAG-AFTRA collective bargaining agreement. The minimum salary for this position is $78,413 and may increase with experience and internal equity.
