Role overview

Senior UX Researchers have the breadth and depth of research method skills applicable to a wide range of questions, and over time develop standout areas of research excellence. A long track record and documented success in both research and organizational impact is characteristic of this role. The ability to integrate research into the work of colleagues in other roles helps achieve outsized impact from research efforts. This position emphasizes turning research into a strategic asset for Agoda's decisions and processes.

Qualifications

  • Masters Degree or PhD or equivalent experience in Computer Science, Human-Computer Interaction, Information Science, Psychology, Social Science, or related field
  • 10+ years of relevant experience in consumer-facing business domains
  • Expert in quantitative research (log analysis, metrics triangulation, survey design, sampling, crosstabs, statistical concepts, etc.)
  • Experience with qualitative methods and user-centered design (interviews, diary studies, direct observation, think-aloud usability testing, etc.)
  • Comfortable with planning, scoping, conducting, analyzing and communicating research
  • Experience evaluating, negotiating, and working with external research vendors
  • Ability to describe user problems and business opportunities to stakeholders using quantitative and qualitative data
  • Strong critical thinking beyond business requests
  • Excellent storytelling and communication skills in English, able to speak with business, product teams, designers, engineers, and other stakeholders
  • Enjoys collaborative work in a dynamic, data-driven, and creative environment

Responsibilities

  • Conducts research end-to-end for high impact, guiding stakeholders to collaborate effectively with research toward their goals
  • Initiates research efforts aligned with product vertical goals in the medium and long term
  • Formulates programs of study and knowledge sharing relevant to strategic objectives
  • Leads projects through collaboration with other stakeholders
  • Assesses pros and cons of various research methodologies and mentors others in using techniques and tools
  • Expertise in evaluating research opportunities, especially with ambiguous requests, and shaping solid projects or programs
  • Delivers excellent project execution while exploring alternative methods and mixed-method approaches
  • Triangulates findings across methods to ensure reliability and depth of insight
  • Maximizes value and efficiency of research by applying secondary research and expert inspection methods
  • Proficient with standard research software tools and applies the right tool to the problem
  • Upholds GDPR, data compliance and ethics in all activities

  • Drives cross-discipline collaboration via research insights
  • Collaborates with other researchers and disciplines with shared ownership
  • Communicates clearly with tailored messaging for different audiences
  • Contributes to standards of research excellence across the organization
