Job Description

BryceTech is currently looking for a Technical Writer to support the Department of Homeland Security (DHS), Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) Planning and Exercise Division (PED). The team will focus on the development of deliberate and crisis action plans, plan validation and exercises, training and professional development, data and geospatial analytics, and technical assistance requirements. The Technical Writer will provide support to PED in areas such as program management, planning, policy, readiness, internal controls, administrative services, and business office support. Resources will be located across FEMA offices to meet requirements and objectives of the work. The Technical Writer shall operate in both unclassified and classified environments.

Responsibilities

  • Perform qualitative and quantitative research and analysis of voluminous data using all sources (e.g., Internet, FEMA Intranet, FEMA Enterprise Data Warehouse, and other pertinent sources).
  • Interpret results of analysis in writing using appropriate format/template.
  • Develop graphics depicting potentially complex or obscure concepts.
  • Use Microsoft Office Suite (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, etc.).
  • Use FEMA SharePoint to establish, manage, and maintain a centralized repository for products and deliverables.
  • Organize and support inter- and intra-agency meetings in person and virtually.
  • Adhere to federal accessibility guidelines specified in Section 508 of the Rehabilitation Act and Section 255 of the Communications Act.

Qualifications

  • Possess a DoD Secret Clearance or above
  • Possess emergency management experience, including knowledge of ICS and NIMS; training or instructional design experience and/or education in business, urban, military, and emergency management operations or planning
  • At least six years of experience writing/editing technical documents, including operational plans, needs assessments, and policy papers
  • Strong writing skills and expertise in Section 508 compliance
