Overview
VIVA Creative is seeking an experienced Line Producer to oversee and manage a large slate of premium, episodic content. From development to wrap you’ll ensure that all elements are executed safely, on time, within budget, and to the highest artistic and technical standards. This role supports the Executive Producer by managing day-to-day operations while producing best-in-class content.
Ideally, this position would work from our Rockville, MD office; however, remote arrangements may be considered for the right candidate.
Responsibilities
- Collaborate with the production team to translate editorial vision into executable production plans.
- Develop preliminary technical feasibility assessments for all production elements.
- Oversee budgeting for scenic, lighting, video production, playback, camera, sound, and rigging.
- Serve as liaison between crew, department heads and production executives to ensure alignment of creative goals within budgetary constraints.
- Oversee fabrication, sourcing, and procurement of all production elements (set, props, AV, etc.), considering existing inventory.
- Supervise shop builds (onsite or via third-party vendors) to ensure specifications, budget, and timelines are met.
- Conduct site visits and production check-ins to assess progress and troubleshoot challenges.
- Coordinate logistics for shipping, delivery, and installation of production assets.
- Oversee site prep and venue-specific adaptations to meet show and operational requirements with the local Production team.
- Lead load-in, installation, and technical setup of all production components.
- Ensure all safety standards and codes are met, including fire regulations, structural assessments, and emergency protocols.
Rehearsals & Show Execution
- Manage all technical and dress rehearsals, working closely with stage management, creative, and crew.
- Resolve production issues in real time and maintain artistic integrity throughout the show run.
- Hire, supervise, and manage production personnel and department heads.
- Oversee contracts and deliverables for external vendors and freelancers.
- Foster a collaborative and safe working environment for all production teams.
- Manage cross-departmental communications and reporting structures.
Budget & Timeline Control
- Review and manage the production budget, tracking expenses and forecasting needs.
- Approve major expenditures and reconcile invoices in collaboration with the finance department.
- Create, maintain, and enforce master production schedules and critical path milestones, ensuring relevant department feedback is incorporated into the master calendar.
- Provide regular reporting to executive leadership and producing teams.
Strike, Post-Production, and Archival
- Lead the strike and load-out of production assets at the end of run.
- Oversee the post-production process and post-production budget.
- Coordinate storage, repurposing, or disposal of materials as needed.
- Generate final production reports.
- Ensure archival of production documentation, cue sheets, renderings, and technical data.

- Proven ability to manage complex projects, overlapping timelines, and teams ranging from lean crews to large-scale productions.
- Skilled multitasker—capable of producing active projects while also supporting the Executive Producer in managing overall department operations.
- Exceptional communicator with the ability to drive clarity and accountability across teams; strong written and verbal skills to align stakeholders, deliver feedback, and keep projects and people on track.
Qualifications
- 5–10 years of experience in broadcast television production, including live and live-to-tape programming, documentary, social media, and virtual production.
- 5+ years of team leadership experience in an agency or corporate environment.
- 5+ years of budget creation and management experience.
