Creative Expressive Arts Supervisor (Broughton Hospital)

The State of North Carolina is currently accepting applications for Creative Expressive Arts Supervisor for our Recreational Therapy Department. Creative Expressive Arts Therapies is a branch of the Recreational Therapy Department. The Creative Expressive Arts Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the duties of four staff within the Creative/Expressive Arts Therapies Section of the RT/CEA Department. This position provides supervision to students engaged in undergraduate and graduate Music Therapy practicum. This position provides direct clinical services in music therapy and other creative art modalities for patients with psychiatric, emotional, physical, and developmental impairments at Broughton Hospital. This position provides programming either individualized or in a group setting through the media of music, visual art, drama, poetry, literature, and movement to meet the specific needs of the population being served. The normal work schedule is Monday through Friday from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm. However, due to the nature of the services the hospital provides, the work schedule could change due to needs of the patient population. Qualified candidates must document on the application that they clearly possess the following: Bachelor's degree in music therapy which includes a six-month internship from an appropriately accredited institution and two years of professional experience in the specialty area. Bachelor's degree in music or music education with an equivalency in music therapy which includes a six-month internship from an appropriately accredited institution and two years of professional experience in all areas/phases of therapeutic programming. Bachelor's degree in one of the creative/expressive arts areas (art, dance, drama, music) from an appropriately accredited institution and four years of experience in the specialty area; or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Management prefers candidates with the following: Experience working with individuals with a variety of psychiatric diagnoses in an in-patient behavioral health setting. Supervisory experience Experience implementing services to include expressive arts such as but not limited to art, drama, music, and/or dance.
