Security Technical Director
Reports To:

Job Summary:
The Technical Director is responsible for overseeing a technology-specific program that supports customers across multiple regions. The Technical Director supervises multiple Technical Managers and Field engineers to ensure all contracted work is commissioned in accordance with IES standards and customer requirements. This includes, but is not limited to safety, quality, scope, staffing, financial management, schedule management, material management, risk management, project deliverables, and the overall client relationship.
Job Duties and Responsibilities:
- Team Leadership: Lead, mentor, and guide a team of technical experts, including Technical Managers, Production Managers, Field Engineers, Technicians, and other support staff to ensure cohesive teamwork and efficient project execution. Foster a collaborative and empowering work environment to maximize productivity and creativity.
- Technical Strategy: Collaborate with Division Manager to define the technical vision and strategy for the program. Identify opportunities for innovation and improvement for technology processes and tools.
- Resource Allocation: Effectively allocate resources across projects to optimize productivity and achieve project milestones.
- Technical Expertise: Keep up to date on emerging technologies and industry trends. Provide technical guidance and expertise to the project team to overcome challenges and maintain technical excellence.
- Project Status Updates: Maintain project status reports for program projects and report weekly to the Division Manager. Track critical project milestones and ensure commissioning is properly completed.
- Staff Training: Develop a technical and field staff training plan using IES and manufacturer training courses and certifications. Recommend specific training courses for field staff and document all completed training and certifications.
- Process Improvement: Continuously develop and improve processes, methodologies, and tools to enhance efficiency, productivity, and product quality.
- Reinforce Standards: Implement documentation, commissioning, and programming standards. Work with local branches to maintain a consistent client experience regardless of which team is performing the work.
- Stakeholder Communication: Coordinate ongoing communication between clients, stakeholders, and other cross-functional teams to understand the requirements, communicate project progress, and to manage expectations.
- Performance Evaluation: Conduct regular performance evaluations for team members, providing feedback on areas of improvement, and recognizing outstanding achievements.
- Other responsibilities as assigned.
Qualifications
Physical and Mental Requirements:
- Must be self-motivated, positive in approach, professional, and lead others to create, develop, and implement project process improvements.
- Must promote the culture and mission of IES, as well as program objectives, to all employees, vendors, clients, and business partners.
- Must have proven problem-solving skills, critical thinking skills, and the ability to effectively read, write, and give oral presentations.
- Must have proven high-level skills to interpret blueprints and other project documents, including but not limited to scope, specifications, reporting, and quality metrics.
- Must be able to travel as needed.
- Must have the ability to learn Company and customer project management systems.
- Must be able to successfully secure and maintain a Company-sponsored American Express credit card.
Education, Certification, License, and Skill Requirements:
- Must possess at least a high school diploma or equivalent.
- Must have experience in customer interactions and General Contractor interactions.
- Must have experience in system design and a working knowledge of current technology
- Must have a minimum of five (5) years of supervisory or managerial experience.
- Must have a minimum of five (5) years of experience in the telecommunications industry.
- Must be proficient with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and MS Project).
- CSSI, RCDD, and Networking certifications are preferred.
- Must meet Company minimum driving standards.
- Must be able to manage multiple tasks/projects simultaneously.
- Must have demonstrated and verifiable ability to create and manage a project schedule, scope of work, and detailed associated tasks, from project initiation through final completion and customer turnover.
