The American Veterinary Medical Association (AVMA), the national nonprofit association established in 1863 representing 108,000+ veterinarians working in private & corporate practice, government, industry, academia, & uniformed services, is seeking a Digital Communications Specialist to join our Marketing & Communications team, located at our Headquarters office in Schaumburg, Illinois – a northwest suburb of Chicago. The AVMA’s mission is to lead the profession by advocating for its members & advancing the science & practice of veterinary medicine to improve animal & human health.

Reporting to the Digital Communications Manager, the Digital Communications Specialist is responsible for helping advance digital projects & initiatives in support of Marketing & Communications & AVMA’s strategic plans. Provides technical & administrative assistance in the development & maintenance of various digital efforts & works collaboratively with the AVMA News team, Publications Staff, as well as content, social media, & video teams to ensure the smooth implementation & delivery of AVMA digital content.

Responsibilities

  • Support content production & maintain relevant sections of www.avma.org including AVMA News, Convention Daily News, & portions of the AVMA Journals website.
  • Assist the AVMA videographer with editing, uploading, & managing video content across platforms such as Vimeo & YouTube, and provide additional video support as needed.
  • Collaborate with diverse teams to ensure timely and effective digital content delivery.
  • Travel up to 10% as required.

Qualifications

  • BS/BA degree or equivalent experience in web editing, web design, UX/UI design, or video production & editing.
  • Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience; prior association/nonprofit experience preferred.
  • Demonstrated proficiency with HTML, CSS, & a solid understanding of digital design principles.
  • Experience working with content management systems such as Drupal, Higher Logic, & SharePoint strongly preferred.
  • Proven experience with Google Analytics, Google Looker Studio & Google Tag Manager.
  • Familiarity with association management systems (AMS), customer relationship management (CRM) platforms, & database-driven web applications a plus.
  • Must be familiar with Microsoft Office tools & Adobe Creative Cloud.
  • Able to edit photography & videography for digital use.
  • Must be highly organized with the ability to manage multiple projects & priorities simultaneously.
  • Strong project management skills.
  • Strong interpersonal & communication skills; able to work collaboratively across teams and with external vendors.

A reasonable estimate of the current base pay range for this position is $53,000 - $65,000. Compensation decisions take into account a wide range of factors, including but not limited to relevant experience, skills, certifications, geographic location, business needs, & organizational policies. In addition to those factors, we believe in the importance of pay equity & consider internal equity of our current team members as a part of any final offer.
