Overview

The University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB) is seeking a Production Stage Manager-Audio-Visual to be responsible for executing all aspects of Audio and Video operations and the coordination of technical elements for productions and events. This position manages stage operations, over-hire, stagehands, and crew. It also serves as Sound Board and Video Operator, overseeing audio and video crews, facilitating audio and video load-ins, maintaining technical department equipment, work areas, and other responsibilities as assigned. The production stage manager assists with stage setup and production, equipment needs, and general technology support for live events, programs, and meetings.

(Hourly Rate: $17.00 - $25.00)

Responsibilities

  • Execute all aspects of Audio and Video operations and coordinate technical elements for productions and events.
  • Manage stage operations, over-hire, stagehands, and crew.
  • Serve as Sound Board and Video Operator overseeing audio and video crews, load-ins, and related activities.
  • Maintain technical department equipment and work areas; provide general technology support as assigned.
  • Assist with stage setup, equipment needs, and other production-related responsibilities.
  • Provide technical services for live events, various programs, and meetings.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Music Technology, Theater/Production, Audio/Visual or a related field and five (5) years of related work experience. Work experience may substitute for the education requirement.
  • Knowledge and proficiency with digital mixing consoles, DANTE audio networks, Qlab, managing wireless microphones, producing audio recordings; projection, video switchers, live streaming, video conversion, PTZ camera systems, producing video recordings.
  • Strong knowledge of computer applications in Windows and Mac environments, Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and other Office 365 applications (OneDrive, Teams, etc), Qlab, OBS.
  • Working knowledge of networking A/V equipment.
  • Physical ability to stand, walk, reach, climb or balance, work at heights, stoop/kneel/crouch/crawl, talk, hear, handle objects with hands, and lift up to 50 pounds; occasional lifting more than 75 pounds.
