Overview

Event Technician (Part-Time), Audio Visual - Hyatt Regency New Brunswick. A Technician is responsible for the set up and operation of basic / small-scale audiovisual systems in a hospitality environment while ensuring complete customer satisfaction. This position reports to an Operations Manager, Operations Director or Director, Event Technology.

Key Responsibilities

  • Equipment Operation: Ensure a flawlessly executed event through accurate and timely setup, operation, and breakdown of basic audiovisual equipment as listed in the technical qualifications section.
  • Customer Service: Strive to exceed the expectations and needs of internal and external customers; maintain a positive relationship with clients through effective communication; meet with guests on site to ensure needs are met and equipment works properly; monitor events and check in on customers throughout the day; foster the hotel/client relationship.
  • Technical Ability: Understand the technical aspects of the job and demonstrate basic operational ability to troubleshoot and problem solve with equipment and software issues; handle equipment challenges and changes in a timely and professional manner.
  • Systems Knowledge: Understand company processes, follow procedures, and complete systems entry and paperwork accurately; use equipment sheets to determine equipment for setup and for strike; interact with staff and vendors; utilize up-selling techniques; work with clients to finalize invoices; complete order entries as needed.

Job Qualifications

  • High School Diploma required. Associate’s degree preferred.

  • 1 year of customer service or hospitality experience preferred.
  • 1 year of audio-visual experience or equivalent in an educational environment preferred.
  • A valid driver’s license may be required if operating Company vehicles; additional DOT requirements may apply.
  • Must be able to lift 50 lbs.

Work Environment

Hotel/convention center environment with exposure to outdoor temperatures, dirt, sand and/or dust; varying noise levels; use of high-end AV equipment and electrical components; possible work at multiple locations; irregular hours and on-call status including days, evenings, weekends, and holidays. Appearance guidelines apply based on hotel or representation in that city/area. Also work in warehouse/event venues with similar conditions.

Hourly Pay Range: $18.11 - $22.18. Compensation determined by qualifications, location, travel, and experience. May include overtime, bonuses or incentives.
