Overview
We are seeking a meticulous and highly organized Technical Writer / Documentarian to join our team. This role is critical in capturing, documenting, and standardizing operational processes and procedures across the Production, Client Services, and Production Engineering departments. The ideal candidate will possess strong technical writing skills, the ability to collaborate cross-functionally, and a passion for clarity and efficiency.
The Technical Writer will develop a suite of documentation that includes Policies, Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), Work Instructions, and One-Point Lessons. These documents will support compliance, training, operational consistency, and knowledge transfer.
Responsibilities
- Document Development & Maintenance – Leverage industry standard knowledge to create and edit documentation including company and departmental policies, Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), work instructions, and one-point lessons and quick reference guides. Ensure all documents are version-controlled, accessible, and aligned with organizational templates and standards.
- Process Mapping & Analysis – Work with subject matter experts (SMEs) to gather information on current and new processes; analyze workflows to ensure documentation reflects accurate and efficient operations of all associated departments; create process maps and flowcharts using appropriate tools (e.g., Lucidchart, Visio).
- Stakeholder Collaboration – Liaise with team members in cross-functional departments to gather input and validate documentation; schedule and facilitate interviews and reviews with SMEs and department heads.
- Quality & Compliance – Ensure documentation complies with internal policies, regulatory standards, and best practices; implement consistent formatting, terminology, and style across all documents.
- Training Support – Create user-friendly documentation that supports onboarding, cross-training, and continuous learning; work with training coordinators to integrate documentation into training programs.
Qualifications
Required:
- 3+ years of experience as a technical writer, process documentarian, or similar role.
- Proven experience documenting policies, SOPs, work instructions, and training materials.
- Experience in regulated industries and writing technical documents that can align with regulatory frameworks such as HITRUST, SOC 2, PCI, etc.
- Strong process mapping competencies with focus on cross-departmental relationships and impact.
- Strong command of English grammar, style, and technical writing conventions.
- Ability to interpret and translate complex processes into clear, concise documents.
- Experience working with process owners, and departmental leadership.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and documentation tools (e.g., Confluence, SharePoint, Adobe Acrobat).
- Familiarity with manufacturing or production environments.
- Knowledge of Lean, Six Sigma, or other process improvement methodologies.
- Experience with graphic design or illustration tools for visual aids.
