ABOUT THE ROLE:
The Technical Designer is responsible for guiding the fit commercialization process in partnership with their manager; from initial concept through to production for assigned product classifications, ensuring on time development and delivery according to critical dates. You will track and facilitate prototyping for styles; identify and address key issues and challenges in construction/manufacturing and plans accordingly to deliver quality products. The Technical Designer will collaborate closely with other department leaders, building strong relationships with Design, Costing, Materials, and Product Merchandising teams.
WHAT YOU'LL DO:
- Manage the maintenance of all specs and grades from the initial set up through production (proto's, Size Sets, TOPs, etc)
- Lead fit sessions for assigned category (measures garments /reviews and identifies fit issues proactively)
- Communicate all fit and construction related comments to the vendor and internal teams within development and production timelines.
- Establish, in partnership with the Sr. Technical Designer, fit standards, construction standards and blocks to ensure fit consistency and quality.
- Correct and revise patterns as needed.
- Work to improve fit and quality through review of customers comments, sales feedback and understanding of competition.
- Manage and hit all deadlines along with communicating any potential delays to manager.
- Maintain clear and accurate tech packs for assigned styles, knowledge of historical issues.
- Understand fabrications and how they react with silhouettes.
- Maintain consistency in fit for assigned product classifications.
- Collaborate closely with domestic and overseas teams.
- Strong problem solving, organization and communication skills.
- Strong ability to manage multiple projects and proactively address challenges.
- Experience interpreting design intent and offering alternative solutions.
- Experience writing product specs, grading rules, and construction standards instructions; in partnership with their manager.
- Experience working with factory vendors and overseas counter parts to ensure clear understanding of style development needs.

- Patternmaking experience; working knowledge of patternmaking software (Gerber).
- Strong understanding of garment construction.
- Strong problem solver.
- Strong ability to build relationships based on trust & respect.
- Strong communication skills; both verbal and written.
- Computer proficiency; Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Power Point, Outlook), PLM (Product Life Management) system, Adobe Illustrator and Gerber.
- Bachelor's Degree.
- Minimum 6+ years' experience in Technical Apparel Design.
The pay range for this position is $100,000-$110,000/yr USD.
