Overview
Serco is hiring a Technical Project Leader to support U.S. Navy customers aboard U.S. Naval Ships located in Newport News, VA. You will be part of a team that works closely with the Navy and other Serco team members on-board U.S. Navy Ships.
Serco supports the US Navy to deliver quality work aboard the ships. The Technical Project Leader will assist program managers by providing program-level support to the Systems Integration & Installation programs to ensure deliverables and performance parameters are met. In this Technical Project Leader role, you will:
Responsibilities
- Manage and coordinate technical and administrative staff by assigning, scheduling, prioritizing, coordinating, and facilitating multiple tasks.
- Evaluate performance of subcontractors and staff in terms of actual and planned task schedules and resource requirements.
- Review work for quality assurance.
- Provide direction on projects from inception through completion and provide technical and managerial assistance on all aspects of project management to comply with the technical requirements of the contract for the customer.
- Prepare memoranda, reports, and other documentation highlighting project steps and status for daily and weekly meetings with the customer.
- Attend meetings and present project status and work commitments.
- Ensure training of all staff members and instruct them on customer’s methods, procedures, and standards.
- Evaluate, develop, or implement procedures regarding project documentation and development.
- Track materials, submit and track fabrication requests and support services.
- Monitor material deliveries and identify long lead material items.
- Track Liaison Action Requests (LARs) and provide Level of Effort (LOE) estimates.
- Troubleshoot technical problems and take corrective action.
- Review employee schedules and time-cards.
- Control Manning and provide input for additional manning requirements and/or manning deficiencies.
- Reallocate personnel as needed to support various tasks.
- Participate in long-range planning, analysis, and program design.
- Participate in the planning and design of new projects as requested.
- Manage various installations on multiple vessels from Task Award to Task Completion.
- Review, modify, and provide updates to support Plan of Actions & Milestones (POA&M).
- Maintain communication with task leads on staffing and material requirements.
- Report possible changes and potential issues to PM that may affect cost and/or schedule.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- A high School Diploma
- Ability to obtain and maintain a Secret Clearance.
- A minimum of 8 years experience as an Alteration Installation Team (AIT) Lead supporting C5ISR installation on-board Naval vessels.
- Ability to work under pressure of deadlines with interruptions occurring regularly.
- Proficient computer skills in Microsoft Office products (including Microsoft Project) to use and create spreadsheets, reports, and presentations.
- Ability to travel up to 10%.
- Additional desired skills and experience: An active Secret Clearance
