Senior Data Scientist - Education & Publishing
Base pay range
70.00 / hr - $80.00 / hr

We are looking for a Senior Data Scientist to join our analytics and technology team to help shape the future of how millions of young readers discover and access books.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain robust data pipelines using SQL and Python (Pandas) to support analytics, business intelligence, and modeling initiatives.
- Build, evaluate, and optimize machine learning models (e.g., XGBoost, Random Forest, and other algorithms) to solve high-impact business problems.
- Deploy and monitor models in production environments, ideally leveraging AWS SageMaker, Airflow, Docker, and Jupyter Notebooks.
- Apply best practices in version control and collaborative coding using Git.
- Partner with product, marketing, sales, and operations teams to translate business objectives into data science–driven solutions.
- Present findings and recommendations in a clear, actionable way to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Required Qualifications
- 5+ years of experience in a data science role with demonstrated success applying ML techniques to real-world problems.
- Strong expertise in SQL and Python (Pandas).
- Hands-on experience with standard ML algorithms such as XGBoost and Random Forest.
- Experience deploying ML models to production (e.g., using Airflow and / or Docker).
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in economics, finance, computer science, mathematics, statistics, engineering, or other quantitative disciplines.
Preferred Qualifications
- Forecasting experience using tools such as AutoGluon or Darts.
- Experience working with AWS SageMaker and Jupyter Notebooks.
- Knowledge of PostgreSQL and experience with customer data sets.
- Experience with Git for collaborative coding.
- Exposure to LLM fine-tuning for emerging AI applications.
