Responsibilities

• Teaches Art courses at a variety of times and locations
• Creates engaging lessons that promote student involvement and application of the material
• Submits required college reports and forms in a timely manner
• Utilizes a course syllabus for each course, following established institutional guidelines
• Meets with and advises students before or after class or by appointment, via electronic communication, or other appropriate methods
• Evaluates students to measure progress in achieving course objectives and informs students of progress in a timely manner
• Maintains professional relationships with students, colleagues, and the community
• Attends meetings, trainings, and orientations as required
• Performs other related duties as assigned

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

• Mastery of course content
• Demonstrated leadership skills; collaboration, teamwork, and facilitation
• Excellent oral and written communication and interpersonal skills
• Ability to appreciate alternative viewpoints and work with a wide variety of people
• Interest in interdisciplinary teaching, service learning, learning technologies, course development, and adult learning methodologies
• Commitment to academic excellence and providing a dynamic climate for lifelong learning
• Ability to develop and implement instructional approaches such as service learning, learning communities, and effective use of technology
• Ability to engage students effectively

Qualifications

• MA or MFA in art, studio art, art education or art history OR a Masters degree with 18 graduate hours in art, studio art, or art history

Salary

$53.82 per contact hour
