Job Summary

Works as part of a cross-functional team to create designs of industry-leading Pontoon boat components and systems. Supports design development activities from concept to production to meet customer needs and drive innovations aligned with the company's Core Values & Objectives. Completes detailed designs that meet requirements for performance, quality, product cost, and the project schedule.


Key Responsibilities

  • Creates product designs under the direction of a design engineer that meet company and industry manufacturing processes, government regulations/ industry-recognized standard-setting organizations, and customer requirements.
  • Generates CAD models, layouts, installation drawings and part detail drawings, including appropriate tolerance and GD&T specification, and executes release activities through the release cycle.
  • Maintains parts lists, standard build configuration lists and the CAD database for review, analysis and support throughout the product life cycle.
  • Supports completion of tasks in a timely manner to meet the development schedule from concept to production implementation.
  • Utilizes robust problem solving to drive design related product improvements to meet customer needs, improve component performance and styling, and resolve purchasing and manufacturing issues with emphasis on quality, reliability, timely delivery, and cost.
  • Works with development partners in manufacturing and procurement to implement design changes to achieve the ideal component manufacturing route to deliver overall design performance, and cost.
  • Ensures designs meet component or system design requirements and specifications.
  • Prepares new concept designs/sketches and evaluates feasibility of the design solution.
  • Performs other miscellaneous project-related assignments.


Required Skills/Abilities:

  • AA Degree in a related discipline
  • 3-5 years technical experience as a Designer
  • Proficiency in a 3-D CAD modeling package (Solidworks preferred)
  • Surface modeling and experience in design of fiberglass and plastic parts preferred
  • Design for manufacture of sheet metal parts, castings, forgings, and extrusions
  • Strong experience in creating detailed drawings and a working knowledge of GD&T
  • Experience in creating and maintaining parts & bill of material information in ERP system
  • Creation of original system requirements and specifications
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Quick learner with high level of ambition and resolve, self-starter able to manage many concurrent tasks, creative problem solver that can drive innovative solutions
  • Microsoft software including Excel, Project, Word, Outlook and PowerPoint


Physical Requirements

  • Must have enough manual dexterity and stability as required for precision work. 
  • Must be able to see details at close range. 
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds at a time.
  • Must be able to read work instructions and drawings.
  • Must be able to work at a fast pace.
  • Must be able to traverse facilities and machinery by lifting, walking, bending, twisting and carrying materials.
  • Travel as needed (Up to 10%)
