TECHNICAL WRITER - INDEPENDENT CONTRACTOR/PROJECT-BASED
Job Summary
This at-will position is being hired to support a specific client project. While this role is a full-time position with Falcon's Creative Group, employment will not extend beyond the duration of the project. The assignment will conclude once the project is completed, at which time employment with Falcon's Creative Group will end. The expected project timeline is to be determined. For avoidance of doubt, employment with Falcons would be at-will at all times, meaning that the employee or Falcons may terminate the employment at any time (including prior to the conclusion of the project).
Essential Functions
- Write detailed specifications for holographic displays, interactive installations, and technology-driven guest touchpoints.
- Develop integration documentation that explains how interactive systems connect with AV, show control, lighting, projection, and IoT infrastructure.
- Produce user guides, workflow diagrams, and onboarding materials for operators, technicians, and developers.
- Work closely with engineers, creative directors, and architects to gather requirements and translate complex concepts into structured documentation.
- Collaborate with hardware and software teams to ensure accurate representation of system functionality and design intent.
- Partner with operations and facilities management to create clear procedures for maintaining and troubleshooting technology in public-facing environments.
- Track versioning of documents and ensure updates are communicated effectively to all stakeholders.
- Incorporate industry best practices in documenting real-time engines, APIs, hardware integration, and interactive user experiences.
- Simplify complex engineering details for non-technical stakeholders, including creative leadership and operations teams.
- Provide detailed reference materials that support long-term maintenance and upgrades of deployed systems.
- Develop training manuals and operational handbooks for live environments, including mixed-use retail, hospitality, and entertainment spaces.
- Document commissioning, testing, and QA processes for interactive and holographic systems.
- Ensure documentation accounts for guest flow, accessibility, safety, and system resilience in high-traffic public spaces.
Job Qualifications and Requirements
- Bachelors degree in English, Technical Communication, Computer Science, Communications, or a related field is .
- At least three years of experience working as a technical writer.
- Experience in an entertainment profession is .
- Familiarity with programming such as Python is .
- Proficiency with tools/software such Markdown, Confluence, Git, Adobe FrameMaker, and SmartDraw.
- Ability to understand and clearly explain complex technical concepts.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Experience working in a fast-paced environment is a plus.
