Organization: New Mexico Museum of Natural History & Science Location: 1801 Mountain Rd NW, Albuquerque, NM 87104 An Off-Campus Work-Study Position - MUST have a Work-Study Award Position Details
Website Accessibility & Design Assistant (Student Intermediate Level) Off Campus Work Study position. Primary project: ensuring the museums website meets ADA (Americans with Disabilities Act) accessibility standards, while assisting with web design updates and routine site maintenance. Works a maximum of 15 hours per week (30 hours per two-week pay period). Key Responsibilities
Audit the museums current website to identify accessibility issues and areas for improvement. Implement changes to align the website with ADA accessibility guidelines (WCAG 2.1). Assist in redesigning and updating web pages for improved user experience and mobile responsiveness. Conduct regular site maintenance, including updating content, fixing broken links, and ensuring security standards. Collaborate with staff to gather content needs and provide technical solutions. Document accessibility improvements and train staff on maintaining compliance moving forward. Minimum Qualifications
Equivalencies not found for this position. Preferred Qualifications
Currently enrolled in a degree program related to Computer Science, Web Development, Information Technology, or a related field. Foundational knowledge of HTML, CSS, and JavaScript (experience with CMS platforms such as WordPress, Drupal, or similar preferred). Interest or coursework in web accessibility and usability. Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail. Ability to work independently while maintaining communication with supervisors. Availability to work weekdays between 8:00 AM and 5:00 PM.
