Job Summary
We are looking for someone who has a passion for safety, is a self-starter, takes initiative, communicates well with team members, and can work independently in a manufacturing environment. You will understand and align business operations with your core job functions and execute to exceed customer expectations. You will be part of a team focused on safety, continuous improvement, and success while supporting GPIs objectives.
Job Functions
- Operate or tend a printing machine and a folder/gluer machine that transforms paperboard into various consumer packaging products.
- Primary Responsibilities are, but not limited to, the following:
- Read and interpret job jacket information on upcoming jobs on production schedule.
- Locate sheeted board and compare label on skid with job jacket to ensure correct material.
- Operate pallet jack to move skids from raw material warehouse to press room.
- Load skids of sheeted board on press conveyer and maintain conveyer during the production run.
- Respond to the press operator with any special requests during make-ready and monitor press feed during runs.
- Fill all press chemicals, load inks, and manage ink storage and refilling as needed.
- Maintain environmental responsibilities and proper disposal of press waste.
- Dispose of used rags in the rag bin with lid closed; manage waste drums and labeling.
- Clean ink knives, ink fountains, water buckets, coater spills, washer blades, and keep press area clean; empty garbage bins in press area.
- Collect used rags and gloves, change rag bags, and maintain clean rag inventory for the press.
- Assist the pressman in maintenance and follow all safety requirements and company rules.
- Perform other duties as required to achieve company goals.
- Required Skills
- FULL-TIME direct hire with a 90-day probationary period for performance and attendance.
- Ability to pass pre-employment physical, drug screen, and background check.
Schedule Requirements
- 80 hours of work in a 2-week period plus overtime as needed.
- Rotating 12-hour shifts (7:00 to 7:00):
- 12-hour days (7:00am 7:00pm) on a 2-2-3 rotation; 12-hour nights (7:00pm 7:00am) on a 2-2-3 rotation.
- Crew changes from days to nights every 28 days.
- Willing to work evenings and weekends.
Physical Requirements
- Sitting/standing for extended periods; repetitive movements.
- Routine lifting up to 35 lbs, occasional lifting up to 50 lbs.
- Push/pull pallet jack with up to 200 lb load.
- Reading computer screens and use of hand/electrical tools.
- Work in areas of fluctuating temperature; color vision required.
