Job Description The News Executive Producer is a leadership position overseeing the editorial, production, and promotion components of the newscasts and related cut-ins on KTMD. This role encompasses Telemundo news broadcast and non-linear content. The Executive Producer oversees production of news content on multiple platforms, provides guidance and direction to news employees, and is an active member of the news management team. Responsibilities Conceive and execute daily programs incorporating top news stories, live reports, and trending social media topics. Develop and implement content strategies tailored to each platform (TV, web, mobile, OTT, social). Oversee editorial planning and execution of multiplatform projects and daily content. Ensure storytelling is optimized for platform-specific formats and audiences. Review daily rundowns of stories and segments; develop future segments, stories, and interviews for all platforms. Lead and mentor a cross-functional team of producers, editors, writers, and digital content creators. Facilitate communication between departments such as marketing, social media, graphics, and technology. Direct and deliver production elements on tight deadlines. Manage and support on-air talent, content producers, and production team. Collaborate with marketing on branding and special content. Coordinate with NBC & Telemundo Network News and ensure compliance with all relevant laws and company policy on broadcasts and news operations. Manage production calendars, budgets, and resource allocation. Ensure all content meets journalistic standards, copyright regulations, and legal compliance. Qualifications Basic Qualifications Minimum of five years’ experience as a television News Producer or Executive Producer Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience Must be able to speak, read, and write perfect Spanish and English Eligibility Requirements External applicants must submit a resume/CV and Demo Reel through nbcunicareers.com to be considered (Note- job #). Must be willing to work in Houston Must be 18 years or greater Must have unrestricted work authorization to work in the United States Must be able to work early mornings, late evenings and weekends as needed, at times with last-minute notification. Must accept Solutions as NBCUniversal’s Dispute Resolution program Desired Must possess strong journalistic skills, be creative and have ability to write and edit broadcast copy and promotions. Demonstrated competence in newsroom computer systems including editing video and posting digital content. Strong understanding of digital and social media platforms and ability to incorporate them into daily newscasts. Creative approach to storytelling, explainers and problem solving. Ability to make priority decisions under deadlines. Proven strong leadership and management skills required. Self-directed, highly organized and detail-oriented. Fast-paced, multi-cultural environment adaptability. Ability to direct the news crew in a producer-driven environment. Effective communication and teamwork under pressure. Familiarity with local leaders a plus. Up to date on current news events. Knowledge of libel, slander laws and FCC rules and regulations. Personal initiative and ability to work with minimum supervision. Team player who is flexible; high integrity and professionalism.
