Position Overview:


We are seeking an experienced Construction Safety Professional to support our project at Jefferson Labs in Newport News, VA. This long-term assignment requires a candidate with excellent safety management skills and a proven track record in construction safety. Local candidates only

Qualifications:
The Safety Professional shall possess one of the following credentials, with the indicated minimum construction experience:

I.
Certified Safety Professional (CSP) through the Board of Certified Safety Professionals (BCSP) minimum of 5 years of construction experience
II. Industrial Hygienist (CIH) through the Board for Global EHS Credentialing (BGC / ABIH) minimum of 10 years of construction experience
III. Certified Hazardous Materials Manager (CHMM) through the Institute of Hazardous Materials Management (IHMM) minimum of 15 years of construction experience
IV. Construction Health and Safety Technician (CHST) through the BCSP minimum of 15 years of construction experience

Additionally, the Safety Professional shall have a current OSHA 30-hour for construction certification, valid within the last 10 years.

Responsibilities:
  • Conduct daily safety observations at the site, documenting findings in weekly reports.
  • Report observations and findings to the General Contractors Site Safety and Health Representative (SSHR) as well as the Jefferson Lab Construction Management team.
  • Provide a weekly report on observed safety performance of the General Contractor, including recommendations for improvement opportunities.
  • Attend the General Contractors daily toolbox safety meetings.
  • Present one safety toolbox talk per week, rotating topics based on current renovation tasks and observed trends.
  • Attend any additional meetings as directed by the Jefferson Lab Technical Representative (TR) during normal working hours.
