We are currently seeking an Avatar Unity Technical Artist for a remote opportunity based in Seattle, Washington. This is an ongoing contract role with a leading technology client, offering up to 40 hours per week on a 9 AM – 6 PM PST schedule. W2 employment with benefits is available to those working 30+ hours per week.

This is an exciting opportunity for a seasoned technical artist with a strong background in VR/XR and gaming. You’ll collaborate with cross-functional teams to improve Avatars, 3D asset pipelines, create custom tools, and ensure optimal performance across multiple platforms. Your expertise in Unity and scripting will be instrumental in bringing immersive experiences to life.

There is no application deadline for this role.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver technical art assistance across internal and partnered game projects.
  • Collaborate closely with designers, artists, and engineers to enhance asset workflows, integration processes, and overall content pipeline efficiency.
  • Build, maintain, and improve tools to optimize 3D asset creation and implementation.
  • Identify and resolve complex art-related issues, providing clear debugging and constructive feedback as needed.
  • Develop and update technical documentation to support team workflows.

Qualifications

  • Ability to evaluate and improve avatar frameworks in collaboration with the team.
  • Hands-on experience working with avatars in VR, with a strong focus on arm and elbow movement.
  • More than just a Maya rigger—must be proficient in both Maya and Unity, with total pipeline responsibility.
  • Capable of rigging and implementing online rigging directly within Unity.
