Koniag Information Technology Services (KITS), a Koniag Government Services company, is seeking a Technical Editor to support our Army customer in Huntsville, Alabama. This position requires on-site presence in Huntsville, Alabama.

The Technical Editor will be responsible for developing, writing, and editing various technical documents in support of Army communications and electronic warfare systems. This on-site role will focus on writing and editing technical documents for Army communications systems, electronics intelligence, and electronic warfare equipment, including the construction of eXtensible Markup Language (XML) source files. The ideal candidate will have strong technical writing skills, experience with military publications, and knowledge of communications-electronic systems.

Principal responsibilities will include but are not limited to:

  • Write and edit various technical documents in accordance with AR 25-30
  • Construct eXtensible Markup Language (XML) source files viewable in Interactive Authoring and Display Software (IADS)
  • Develop publications supporting equipment and systems utilized in tactical/non-tactical Army Communications systems
  • Create documentation for electronics intelligence and electronic warfare equipment
  • Analyze the relationships among various agency programs for accurate documentation
  • Identify the impact of Government publications, publishing concepts, practices, and standards
  • Stay current on advances in publishing technology to serve as a technical authority
  • Apply knowledge of communications-electronic weapons systems/equipment planning and operations
  • Integrate extensive technical writings and present advanced communications-electronic theories and concepts
  • Utilize knowledge of engineering precedents in documentation development
  • Apply specialized knowledge of the capabilities and characteristics of communication-electronic weapons systems/equipment
  • Interpret regulatory guidance to develop compliant publications that articulate highly technical and complex information
  • Provide policy advice through well-developed technical documentation
  • Develop, edit, and manage a variety of technical publications
  • Prepare and submit appropriate equipment publication change/revision history
  • Track special distribution and source data reports
  • Monitor publication delivery to ensure it meets estimated completion dates for distribution/fielding
  • Collaborate with subject matter experts to ensure technical accuracy
  • Review and edit documents for clarity, consistency, and compliance with standards

Education and Experience:

Required:

  • Bachelor\'s degree in English, Communications, Technical Writing, or related field
  • Minimum of 1 year specialized experience equivalent to NH-02 level including:
  • Interpreting regulatory guidance and applying that knowledge to develop compliant publications
  • Developing, editing, and managing a variety of technical publications
  • Preparing and submitting equipment publication change/revision history, distribution, and source data reports
  • Experience with technical writing for complex systems or equipment
  • Familiarity with military documentation standards and requirements

Required Skills and Competencies:

  • Strong technical writing and editing skills
  • Experience with eXtensible Markup Language (XML)
  • Familiarity with Interactive Authoring and Display Software (IADS) or similar tools
  • Knowledge of AR 25-30 and other relevant military publication standards
  • Understanding of communications-electronic systems and equipment

  • Ability to articulate highly technical and complex information clearly
  • Knowledge of document change management and version control
  • Experience tracking publication delivery and distribution
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy in documentation
  • Excellent grammar, punctuation, and style application
  • Ability to collaborate with subject matter experts and engineers
  • Experience managing multiple documentation projects simultaneously
  • Knowledge of technical documentation best practices
  • Understanding of engineering concepts related to communications systems
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and technical publication software
  • Strong organizational and time management skills
  • Excellent communication abilities, both written and verbal
  • Ability to obtain and maintain required security clearances
  • Willingness to work on-site in Huntsville, Alabama

Desired Skills and Competencies:

  • Advanced degree in relevant field
  • Technical writing certification or specialized training
  • Experience with Army or DoD technical documentation
  • Knowledge of electronic warfare equipment and systems
  • Experience with military communications systems documentation
  • Background in engineering or technical fields
  • Familiarity with intelligence systems documentation
  • Experience with structured authoring methodologies
  • Knowledge of content management systems
  • Experience with documentation for classified systems
  • Background in military operations or communications
  • Understanding of technical training document development
  • Experience with technical illustration and graphics
  • Knowledge of Section 508 compliance for documentation
  • Experience mentoring junior technical writers or editors
  • Familiarity with publication lifecycle management
