Job title: Assistant Director of Creative Video (Athletics)

Department: Univ Athletics-External Affairs

Salary/Grade: EXS/6

The Assistant Director of Creative Video is responsible for the production of original creative video to engage the audience and increase visibility and brand awareness of Northwestern Athletics. This position conceptualizes and collaborates on all aspects of creative production, from shooting through post, for social media, in-venue video boards and television shows. This role will lead creative video production and assist with coverage and promotion of all 19 Varsity sports programs, with primary emphasis on football and men’s basketball, focusing on revenue-driving, sponsorship-mandated content capture and post opportunities through the MMР partnership.

Note: Ability to work a non-traditional schedule, often including evenings, weekends and some travel as required.

Policies: Responsible for adhering to all Department and University policies and procedures, as well as the rules, regulations, bylaws and interpretations of the Big Ten Conference and the NCAA.

Responsibilities

  • Conceptualize, shoot and edit original creative video for Northwestern varsity sport programs, including content for various social media platforms and in-venue video boards, with a heavy focus on football and men’s basketball.
  • Collaborate and assist with video production for Northwestern athletics.
  • Work with other units within the external affairs department, including marketing and athletic communications, to plan and execute content that meets department goals and objectives.
  • Design and create motion and still graphics using Adobe Creative Suite or other related software to establish a dynamic branded appearance for in-venue, online and television video content.
  • Assist with control room production of live sporting events and web streaming to increase exposure for Northwestern’s athletic program.
  • Travel with Northwestern teams to select road contests; shoot and edit video of games and feature stories for television shows and department website.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Successful completion of a full 4-year course of study in an accredited college or university leading to a bachelor's degree in Graphic Design or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Minimum of 1-3 years professional experience in creative video production, including lighting, shooting, editing and post-production work.
  • Minimum of 1-3 years professional experience with the design and creation of motion and still graphics.
  • Minimum of 1-3 years professional experience with video production software, including the Adobe Creative Suite or other related software.
  • Strong communication and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work efficiently on short deadlines and balance multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Working knowledge of video control room and live sporting event production; experience operating switcher boards, replay and graphics machines preferred.
  • Experience in a collegiate or professional athletics setting preferred.

Compensation and Benefits

Target hiring range for this position will be between $56,782 to $56,931 per year. Offered salary will be determined by the applicant’s education, experience, knowledge, skills and abilities, as well as internal equity and alignment with market data.
