The Opportunity

As Customs Entry Writer, you will manage the full spectrum of import customs clearance activities, from HTS classification and ABI entry filing to direct communication with U.S. Customs and Partner Government Agencies (PGA). You’ll work with shipments moving across Transpacific, Transatlantic, and Latin American trade lanes, covering a range of commodities including consumer goods, chemicals, perishables, pharma, and automotive parts.

Key Responsibilities

• File accurate and timely customs entries via ACE Portal and ABI systems
• Classify commodities using the Harmonized Tariff Schedule (HTSUS)
• Handle CF28/CF29 responses, binding rulings, and compliance documentation
• Liaise with FDA, USDA, EPA, and other PGAs to secure release approvals
• Communicate with clients, carriers, and overseas agents to ensure smooth clearance
• Support internal compliance initiatives including CTPAT and ISF filing

What You Bring

• 2+ years in customs entry writing or import brokerage within a freight forwarding environment
• Solid knowledge of HTS classification, Incoterms, and import regulations
• Proficiency with CargoWise, Descartes, Magaya, or similar systems
• Experience with FDA, USDA, and PGA clearance processes
• Strong attention to detail and ability to handle high-volume entries
• (Preferred but not required) Licensed Customs Broker (LCB) or working toward the exam
