to shape, elevate, and expand the organization’s brand and communications strategy as we grow our Louisville-based nonprofit into a nationally recognized leader in services for children and families. This role is vital in building visibility, reputation, and engagement with stakeholders, donors, and communities—helping us tell our story and strengthen our mission. Location:
Louisville, KY. This is an in-person position. A Day in the Life As the VP of Marketing & Communications, you’ll set and execute a comprehensive marketing and communications strategy that builds our reputation as a thought leader in child and family services. Your days will involve overseeing brand awareness campaigns, leading media and public relations, optimizing internal communications, mentoring a growing team, and managing vendors and external agencies. You’ll collaborate closely with leadership, development, and program staff to ensure consistent, compelling messaging that drives both fundraising and mission impact. Whether you’re launching a media campaign, crafting donor communications, or aligning internal communication systems, your leadership will be central to how Home of the Innocents is seen and supported across Kentucky and beyond. How This Position Contributes to the Mission
Develop and execute a comprehensive marketing and branding strategy. Lead local, regional, and national brand awareness and reputation-building efforts. Create and manage proactive media and public relations strategies. Oversee internal communications platforms to ensure effective staff engagement. Build, mentor, and inspire a high-performing marketing and communications team. Manage vendor, agency, and consultant relationships. Partner with the development team on donor communications, stewardship, and campaigns. Ensure brand consistency and impactful storytelling across all platforms. Oversee production of publications, reports, videos, and digital content. Contribute to strategic planning, budgeting, and Board engagement. Serve on committees as directed by the CSO and CEO. Skills & Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree with 5–7 years of marketing and communications experience, or 10+ years without a degree. Proven success in media relations, branding, and reputation management. Demonstrated ability to craft compelling donor-focused communications. Strong track record in integrating brand and fundraising strategies. Skilled in team leadership, mentoring, and collaboration. Proficient in budget management and data analysis. Excellent time management, organizational, and decision-making skills. Strong written and verbal communication abilities. Physical & Work Requirements
Primarily sedentary role; involves sitting for long periods, frequent computer use, and occasional lifting up to 15 pounds. Must have reliable transportation to and from work. What You’ll Receive as a Valued Member of Home of the Innocents
