Job Title: Broadcast Engineer

Location: Stamford, CT

Hybrid (2-3 days/Week)

Position Overview

The Production/Broadcast Engineer will be responsible for providing front-line broadcast engineering and technical support across multiple studios and control rooms within the Stamford Sports facility. The role involves supporting all broadcast systems and technology for live day-of-air programs, troubleshooting hardware and systems, complying with computer security policies, and managing projects that include system design, integration, and commissioning. This position requires a combination of maintenance and project management/system engineering skills. The support needs span seven days a week, with certain periods requiring availability as part of a 24x7 schedule.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform system-level troubleshooting and maintenance of technical facilities, including control rooms, studios, audio and video systems, and associated IT infrastructure.
  • Support live and recorded productions with setup, configuration, and operational readiness of studio and control room equipment.
  • Collaborate with production, operations, and engineering teams to implement technical solutions that align with production goals.
  • Conduct regular preventative maintenance of studio and broadcast equipment.
  • Install and configure new broadcast systems and software updates as required.
  • Diagnose and repair broadcast equipment down to the module level using industry-standard testing tools.
  • Lead or support system integration, commissioning, and project management initiatives.
  • Maintain accurate documentation and system signal flow diagrams.

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Communications, or a related technical field, or equivalent relevant experience.
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in a television broadcast environment or similar media production setting.

Preferred Qualifications and Skills

  • Proficiency in broadcast production systems, including:
  • Video switchers (Sony)
  • Wireless audio and comms systems
  • Server-based playout systems (EVS Servers, IP Director, XSquare)
  • Test and measurement tools (Tektronix, Leader)
  • Solid understanding of digital television systems (HDSDI), IP-based broadcast systems, and SMPTE 2110 standards.
  • Experience with media asset management tools such as Avid Media Composer and Avid Interplay.
  • Familiarity with graphics systems like Chyron.
  • Experience in system design, AutoCAD, and project lifecycle management.
  • Understanding of TCP/IP networks and computer server installation/maintenance.
  • Hands-on experience with 1080P and 4K HDR production technologies.
  • Ability to read and interpret signal flow diagrams and engineering schematics.
  • Strong troubleshooting skills with a proactive and analytical approach.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, especially under the pressure of live TV production.
  • Strong customer focus and a self-starter attitude with the ability to work independently and within a team.
  • Willingness and flexibility to work in a 24/7 operational environment, including nights, weekends, and holidays as needed.
