Position Summary
The Jerome Hall Law Library at the Indiana University Maurer School of Law in Bloomington, Indiana, is seeking entry level or early career applicants for the position of Acquisitions and Collection Management Librarian. This tenure-track librarian position reports to the Head of Technical Services and is responsible for all aspects of the library’s acquisitions including financial tracking and planning. In addition, they manage and monitor electronic resources, participate in and implement collection development decisions and projects, and oversee the digital repository.
Primary Responsibilities
- Manage purchasing and receiving of print and electronic library materials.
- Track expenditures, monitor acquisitions budget, and plan future expenditures.
- Manage and track electronic resource licenses and liaise with Wells Library electronic resources team to ensure appropriate access, connectivity, and content.
- Implement acquisition procedures and workflows, coordinate daily tasks of the acquisitions staff, and supervise, train, and schedule student workers for acquisition and processing tasks.
- Analyze collections, identify potential purchases/discards, and support the curation of print, digital, and archival collections.
- Administer and enhance the law school’s digital repository and archive, report on repository usage and growth, and liaise with the platform vendor.
Additional Responsibilities
- Assist the Head of Technical Services with additional tasks related to collection management and electronic resources.
- Develop and implement projects to digitize legal materials, particularly those related to Indiana, and other materials of particular relevance to the Maurer community.
- Support archival and rare book projects.
- Participate in library administrative staff meetings and Technical Services team meetings, and other meetings as necessary.
- If the successful candidate holds a J.D. from an ABA-accredited law school and is interested in teaching, participation in guest lectures and the teaching rotation for Advanced Legal Research (2 credit survey course) is possible.
- Perform other related responsibilities as needed to support the evolving needs of the law library and its users.

The Jerome Hall Law Library serves the 650 students and more than 50 faculty members of the IU Maurer School of Law, the students and faculty of the larger Bloomington campus, and the public. Basic Qualifications
- Graduate degree in library and/or information science (e.g., MLS) from an ALA-accredited institution
Additional Qualifications
- JD or other law degree from an ABA-accredited institution
- Ability to meet Indiana University’s standards for librarian promotion and tenure within five years.
- Experience using the SirsiDynix library system or other ILS as well as OCLC Connexion.
- Some supervisory experience
- Acquisitions and/or collection management experience
- Demonstrated organizational and time management skills
- Demonstrated attentiveness to detail
- Demonstrated ability to work well independently and as part of a team
Salary and Rank The current salary floor for entry-level librarians at Indiana University is $62,500. Salary will be determined based on qualifications and experience.
