Music Theory Tutor role at Varsity Tutors, a Nerdy Company. The Varsity Tutors Live Learning Platform connects tutors with students nationwide for online sessions. You can set your own schedule, earn competitive rates, and make an impact on students’ learning from home.

Why join the platform: base contract rates start at $18/hour and can increase for specialized subjects; you can earn more with the same student over time (up to $40/hour). You are paid up to twice per week for tutoring sessions you conduct and invoice. Set your own hours and tutor as much as you’d like. Tutor remotely using our Live Learning Platform. Get matched with students suited to your teaching style and expertise. Our AI-powered Tutor Copilot provides real-time instructional support, lesson generation, and engagement features to save prep time and enhance teaching.

Responsibilities

• Provide 1-on-1 online tutoring to individual students.
• Accept on-demand tutoring requests as your schedule allows.
• Deliver personalized instruction and adapt to different learning styles.
• Leverage the Live Learning Platform and the AI-powered Tutor Copilot to support sessions and engagement.
• Handle session invoicing and collaborate with the platform for payments (logistics are managed for you).

Qualifications

• Strong communication skills and a friendly, engaging teaching style.
• Expertise in Music Theory with the ability to explain concepts clearly.
• Ability to personalize lessons and adapt to different learning styles.
• Preference given to candidates with tutoring or teaching experience and graduate-level education.
