Overview

At Hudl, we build great teams. We hire the best to ensure you’re working with people you can learn from. You’re trusted to get your work done your way while testing the limits of what’s possible. We strive for a culture where everyone feels supported, and our employees feel it—their votes helped us become one of Newsweek's Top 100 Global Most Loved Workplaces. We think of ourselves as the team behind the team, supporting the lifelong impact sports can have: teamwork, dedication, inspiring coaches, and opportunities to reach new heights. Our products help coaches and athletes at any level capture video, analyze data, share highlights, and more. Ready to join us?

Your Role

We’re looking for a User Experience Design Manager who is passionate about building powerful digital experiences for high school coaches, athletes, and their teams. You’ll lead the design of products that help organizations run more effectively—whether through video analysis, team management tools, or recruiting opportunities. As part of a dynamic team, you’ll shape the future of high school sports by creating solutions that empower teams to train smarter, compete harder, and grow stronger together.

In this role, you’ll:

  • Focus on the customer. Shape, conduct, and translate user research to understand needs beyond what users say, digging into the “why” behind feedback. Create actionable insights that drive product experience strategy and design.
  • Be a coach. Manage and develop a small team of designers in the same space. Mentor on soft and hard skills and help them achieve career goals.
  • Be a visual and verbal storyteller. Craft and communicate compelling concepts that are forward-facing and relevant to customer and business needs.
  • Add clarity to ambiguous problem spaces. Identify important user characteristics, environments, and market expectations to support prioritized, intuitive experiences.
  • Collaborate. Form close partnerships with Engineering, Product, Design, Scrum, and Quality to define requirements and deliver clear digital experiences.
  • Design process, quality and delivery. Advocate for tactility, accessibility, customer needs, and design excellence; shepherd projects to release and measure results post-launch.

We'd like to hire someone who lives near our offices in Lincoln and Omaha, Nebraska, but we’re also open to remote candidates in Kansas City, Chicago, Austin, Dallas, or Phoenix.

Must-Haves

  • Strong communicator. You thrive in collaborative environments with excellent presentation skills and confidently sell ideas based on rationale and objectives from cross-functional teams. You’re comfortable being respectfully blunt when giving and receiving feedback.
  • Management track record. You’ve led at least one designer as a direct report. Mentorship experience, formal or informal, is valued.
  • Iterative prototyping skills. Proficient with low and high fidelity prototyping tools and wireframing techniques appropriate to the project, including modern AI-powered prototyping platforms.
  • A problem-solver. You think critically and holistically about user interactions to address complex design challenges within technical and business constraints.
  • Organizational skills. You can scope design and research effort and plan to reach final deliverables.
  • Technical proficiency. Proficient with modern component-based design tools (e.g., Figma and Adobe Creative Suite) and collaboration tools like Miro for remote stakeholders.
  • A robust portfolio. Shows a variety of UX design work including user flows, wireframes, prototypes, and final designs.

Nice-to-Haves

  • Research and insights experience. Experience planning and conducting qualitative and quantitative user research and translating insights into actionable outcomes.
  • A sports enthusiast. Understands challenges and opportunities in sports technology.
  • Growth mindset. Curious about industry trends and design best practices, with a desire to continuously learn.

Our Role

  • Champion work-life harmony. Flexible vacation, company holidays, remote options, and meeting-free days to support personal life.
  • Guarantee autonomy. Open culture with trust from day one—own your work and have the agency to try new ideas.
  • Encourage career growth. Resources and opportunities for ongoing professional development.
  • Provide an environment to help you succeed. Invested offices and remote-friendly tech stack and hardware to enable your best work.
  • Support your mental and physical health. Employee Assistance Program, resource groups, and fitness partnerships.
  • Medical insurance. Multiple plans with vision, dental, fertility healthcare, and family-forming benefits.
  • Contribute to your 401(K). Matching up to 4% of your contribution.
