Overview

The University of Iowa Community Clinics is seeking a patient-centered 100% (40 hours a week) Staff Nurse to work at our UICC Obstetrics and Gynecology (OBGYN), Cedar Rapids. The position will primarily support the Cedar Rapids OBGYN Clinic but may float to other patient specialties/clinic locations including, but not limited to, Specialty/Outreach, Family Medicine, and/or Pediatrics.

For over 100 years, the health and wellness of our patients has been our primary focus. We provide skilled prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of gynecologic conditions. Whether pregnancies or navigating menopause, OBGTNT offers expert guidance and support.

Responsibilities

  • Apply nursing theory to the assessment, diagnosis, treatment, and evaluation of patient responses to health and illness.
  • Assess patient health care preferences and expectations.
  • Collaborate to coordinate the continuum of care across settings.
  • Develop patient care plans based on patient condition, age, and psychosocial factors; prescribe interventions to attain expected outcomes.
  • Implement patient care plans according to patient priorities; document interventions and patient/family response.
  • Collaborate with patients and families to integrate their contributions into multidisciplinary care plans.
  • Develop, coordinate, and implement transfer/discharge planning throughout the episode of care.
  • Implement nursing interventions according to department policies, procedures, and protocols to maintain a safe environment; follow universal precautions.
  • Meet UI Fleet Safety Standards and maintain a valid Driver's License.

Education

  • An Associate’s Degree in Nursing, a Diploma in Nursing, a Baccalaureate Degree in Nursing, MNHP/MSN/Clinical Nurse Leader or a Master’s Degree in Nursing is required.

Required Qualifications

  • Current license to practice in the state of Iowa by the time of hire.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with patients, families, nursing staff, and interdisciplinary team members.
  • General computer skills.
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers card from the American Heart Association.
  • Driver’s license and ability to meet UI Fleet Safety Standards.

Special Qualifications

  • Driver’s license and ability to meet UI Fleet Safety Standards.
  • Demonstrated excellent written and verbal communication.

Highly Desirable Qualifications

  • Ability to demonstrate teamwork and autonomy.
  • Minimum 6 months to 1 year of OBGYN experience.
  • EPIC experience.
  • Experience fostering a welcoming and respectful work/academic environment.
  • Experience working autonomously.

Desirable Qualifications

  • Active enrollment in a BSN program if the Baccalaureate degree in Nursing has not yet been obtained.
  • OBGYN knowledge and understanding of policies and procedures.
  • Ambulatory experience.
