We design, build, and operate our satellites from our headquarters in Northern California, USA. Senior Computer Graphics Generalist (CG) Astranis is looking for a Motion Designer who can bring our technology and story to life across 2D and 3D media. This role will own animation from concept through delivery, shaping how we communicate with customers, investors, and the world. You’ll create high-impact motion design for web, social, product launches, events, and technical explainers. You will be responsible for developing and maintaining Astranis’s motion design language, ensuring visual clarity, technical accuracy, and consistency across all channels. Role

Own Astranis’s 2D and 3D animation end-to-end: concept, storyboard, design, animate, edit, deliver. Create 2D motion graphics (typography, iconography, data visualization, HUDs, lower thirds) and 3D sequences (product/technology shots, environment/space scenes). Translate complex technical concepts into clear, compelling visual narratives in close collaboration with engineers, product, and marketing. Develop Astranis’s motion identity — color, type, transitions, and animation principles — in partnership with the brand team. Adapt and extend existing CAD/STEP files while building custom 3D models when needed. Requirements

2+ years of relevant product, commercial, or narrative modeling experience Strong reel demonstrating expertise in both 2D motion design (After Effects or equivalent) and 3D animation, lighting, and rendering (Blender or equivalent) Experience creating new materials / lighting from scratch Proven ability to deliver on tight timelines with urgency and precision Experience adapting CAD/STEP models and creating custom assets from scratch Clear technical communication skills, with the ability to capture details correctly in partnership with engineers Bonus

Experience with Unreal Engine or Houdini Comfort with scripting/expressions for automation and tool building Fluency in emerging AI-driven creative tools Strong real-world compositing experience U.S. Citizenship, Lawful Permanent Residency, or Refugee/Asylee Status Required
