Role Title: Graphic Designer

Reports to: Senior Communications Manager
Works closely with: Web Designers, Social Media Director, Editorial Team, PR Officers
Role Overview
We are seeking a Graphic Designer with sharp instincts, fast turnaround capabilities, and a strong understanding of visual communication. This role is responsible for producing consistent, on-brand graphics across platforms — including social media, digital campaigns, publications, and live events.
You’ll be embedded within the Communications Branch, collaborating closely with the Social Media Director and Web Designers to support ongoing storytelling and campaign needs. The ideal candidate has a strong grasp of layout, branding, and typography, and can take both direction and initiative.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design branded graphics for digital and print: social posts, reports, decks, website banners, and event assets
- Turn written or verbal briefs into visually clear, compelling outputs
- Collaborate with the Social Media Director to deliver timely platform-specific visuals
- Support the Web Design team with visual assets for new modules, pages, or microsites
- Create infographics and data visualisations for reports and thought leadership
- Maintain brand consistency across all content in accordance with the BCI brand manual
- Adapt visuals for different platforms and formats (e.g., accessibility, aspect ratios, languages)
- Organise and maintain a shared asset library for communications use
Requirements
Experience and Skills
- Strong portfolio of visual design work (brand application, campaigns, layouts, infographics)
- Experience working in nonprofit, advocacy, or policy-related design environments
- Ability to synthesise complex topics into clean, engaging visuals
- Familiarity with accessibility best practices for digital content
- Strong attention to detail and ability to juggle multiple requests
- Comfortable receiving and giving feedback in a collaborative setting
Tools & Platforms
- Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite (Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign) or Figma
- Experience with Canva Pro or other quick-turn design tools
- Familiarity with project coordination tools like Trello
- Light animation or motion graphics experience is a plus
- Basic understanding of WordPress asset integration is helpful but not required
