Overview The American Chemical Society (ACS) is the world's largest scientific membership association and a leading publisher in the chemical sciences. ACS Publications offers journals, eBooks, and digital offerings across institutional, corporate, and government customers. The Global Marketing Department develops marketing strategies and integrated campaigns to engage target audiences, drive demand, and strengthen relationships, supporting revenue and the Society's mission to advance knowledge in chemistry. The Institutional Product Marketing Team develops and executes strategic marketing initiatives to promote ACS Publications' publication portfolio, products, and services to libraries, academic institutions, corporations, and government organizations worldwide. This includes marketing subscription access to online journals, eBooks, industry news, data products, and our growing pipeline of offerings. The team collaborates with Field (Revenue) Marketing and Journal Product Marketing to align goals and messaging. The Opportunity ACS Publications is seeking a highly motivated Institutional Product Marketing Manager to contribute to the growth and success of a leading scientific publisher by developing and implementing impactful marketing strategies for institutional offerings. The candidate should be a strong written communicator with a proven track record in B2B product marketing and new product launches. Position Summary The Institutional Product Marketing Manager will develop and execute marketing plans to drive awareness, engagement, and adoption of ACS Publications' institutional products and services. This role requires a solid understanding of the B2B marketing landscape and the ability to develop compelling positioning, content, and marketing materials. Responsibilities Develop and implement comprehensive marketing strategies and tactical plans for ACS Publications' institutional product portfolio (online journals, eBooks, news platforms, and data solutions) in partnership with Field Marketing. Drive market research and analysis to identify customer needs, market trends, and competitive landscape to inform product positioning and messaging. Develop compelling product positioning and messaging for institutional buyers, articulating the value proposition of the offerings. Create high-quality marketing content across channels (website copy, brochures, email campaigns, presentations, advertisements, case studies, and more). Plan and execute successful new product launches for the institutional market, including defining target audiences, launch plans, and supporting materials. Collaborate with Field Marketing, Sales, Product Development, and other teams to ensure alignment on marketing strategies and sales enablement. Manage marketing budgets and track KPIs to measure effectiveness and drive data-driven decisions. Present marketing plans and results to internal stakeholders. Stay informed about industry best practices and emerging trends in B2B marketing and scholarly publishing. Requirements Bachelor's degree from an accredited four-year college or university. 4-6 years of progressive marketing and/or sales experience with a strong focus on B2B marketing. Experience creating marketing campaigns aligned with standard frameworks (e.g., Forrester). Experience creating a wide range of marketing content (digital and print) in support of sales goals. Successful experience launching new products within a B2B environment. Understanding of the Pragmatic Framework or similar structure. Exceptional written communication skills with strong writing, grammar, and attention to detail. Proven ability to develop compelling product positioning and messaging. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to interpret data and generate actionable insights. Excellent project management and organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines. Fluency in English (written and spoken). Location and Compensation This role can be based in our Washington, D.C. or Columbus, OH offices. Compensation ranges provided below are indicative: DC: between $80,000 and $95,000 per year. OH: between $70,000 and $85,000 per year.
