FLSA: Non-Exempt
Location: Corporate Office - Stevens Point, WI
Duration: June 2026 - August 2026

Reporting Relationship

The Marketing Intern will report to the Marketing Manager and collaborate closely with team members across marketing, sales, product development, and human resources.

Job Summary

Steel King, established in 1970, is a growing Central Wisconsin company in the material handling industry. We are seeking a creative and driven Marketing Intern to join our team. This internship provides hands-on experience in a B2B industrial marketing environment, supporting content creation, digital campaigns, market research, analytics, and brand strategy.

The position is ideal for a college student pursuing a degree in Marketing, Communications, Business, or Graphic Design who wants to gain real-world exposure to cross-functional marketing initiatives and contribute to meaningful projects that support business growth.

General Duties/Responsibilities (depending on particular Marketing skillset of intern)

Content Development & Brand Messaging:

• Create and edit marketing content for blogs, newsletters, social media, brochures, and product materials.

• Assist in developing case studies, white papers, and other customer-facing collateral.

• Review and organize existing marketing content to ensure accuracy, consistency, and correct brand usage (e.g., trademarks).

Digital Marketing Support:

• Support email marketing campaigns, social media scheduling, and paid digital efforts (PPC, display, etc.).

• Monitor and report on digital campaign performance to inform optimization.

• Assist in developing and maintaining branded PowerPoint templates and lobby monitor presentations.

Market Research & Analysis:

• Conduct research on competitors, industry trends, and customer segments.

• Analyze findings to identify opportunities and inform strategy recommendations.

Campaign Coordination:

• Assist with planning and execution of marketing campaigns, including product launches, webinars, and trade shows.

• Track campaign metrics and contribute ideas for continuous improvement.

Design & Visual Content:

• Assist with basic graphic design projects including internal newsletters, social media templates, and event visuals.

• Support the development of a visual asset library for future use.

Collaboration & Cross-Functional Support:

• Work alongside sales, product management, and HR teams to ensure marketing efforts align with broader company goals.

• Participate in team meetings and contribute to project planning discussions.

Analytics & Reporting:

• Help monitor key performance indicators and assist with report creation for marketing leadership.

• Provide data-driven insights and recommendations to improve campaign effectiveness.

Required Skills and Abilities

• Strong writing, editing, and verbal communication skills.

• Creative thinking and problem-solving mindset.

• Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines.

• Strong attention to detail and commitment to brand consistency.

• Familiarity with social media platforms, email tools, and basic marketing concepts.

• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).

• Exposure to Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, InDesign, Illustrator) preferred.

• Ability to work both independently and collaboratively.

Education/Experience Required

• Currently pursuing an Associate or Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Communications, Business, Graphic Design, or a related field.

• Coursework or previous internship experience in marketing, digital media, or design is a plus, but not required.

Hours of Work / Travel

• Regular work hours: Monday - Friday, 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM.

• Some flexibility may be available depending on academic schedules or project demands.

• Regular attendance is expected.
