Overview

Chicago Artists Coalition helps people connect with opportunities including calls for artists, jobs, and available studio space. The Old Town School Music Store is seeking an outgoing and enthusiastic part-time sales associate. We are looking for a music gearhead, with knowledge of musical instruments and the retail music industry.

Responsibilities

• Assist customers with instrument and accessory questions, including restringing guitars and answering technical inquiries.
• Operate computers and POS systems; process transactions accurately.
• Provide knowledgeable recommendations for music-related items, including instruments, accessories, books, and related merchandise.
• Maintain a welcoming, organized sales floor and stockroom.

Qualifications

• Proficient at playing guitar and one other instrument.
• Experience with computers and POS systems.
• Experience selling musical instruments, accessories, books, and related items.
• Retail experience, preferably at a music store, is preferred.
• Bilingual skills and experience packing and shipping are a plus.

Availability

Ability to work a flexible schedule, including at least one weekend day and two weeknights per week, is required.

Compensation

Hourly pay: $17.60

Discounts at the School and some voluntary benefits are available for part-time employees.
