Overview

The Manager, Public Relations leads the development and execution of Brother’s public relations strategy to elevate the brand's reputation, drive media visibility, and support business growth. This role cultivates media relationships, oversees storytelling and product launches, and ensures consistent messaging across channels. It also establishes a scalable PR foundation with processes, templates, workflows, and outreach strategies, and partners with stakeholders on crisis communications.

Responsibilities

  • Develop, lead, and refine an integrated PR strategy aligned with Brother’s business goals, brand positioning, and marketing priorities.
  • Create and own a comprehensive PR playbook with processes, media engagement protocols, messaging templates, and best practices for cross-unit consistency.
  • Lead proactive storytelling that highlights Brother’s innovation and value propositions in priority verticals; maintain a steady pipeline of thought leadership and brand-building stories.
  • Partner with cross-functional leaders and business units to identify newsworthy opportunities, product innovations, partnerships, and initiatives that resonate with media and target audiences.
  • Ensure PR content, from press releases to executive commentary, aligns with brand tone, voice, and messaging standards.
  • Collaborate with internal teams and external agencies to measure PR performance, benchmark results, and deliver actionable insights to optimize strategy and execution.
  • Manage media relations by working with our PR agency to build and maintain relationships with national, trade, and local journalists, editors, bloggers, and influencers.
  • Coordinate media briefings, interviews, desk-side meetings, and press events to maximize media engagement and brand visibility.
  • Oversee and manage the product review program with media, ensuring timely follow-ups and optimal coverage results.
  • Lead PR for major product and service launches, including campaign planning, press release development, and media pitching.
  • Ensure PR activity is integrated with marketing, social media, and paid media strategies to amplify reach and impact.
  • Counsel executives and internal stakeholders on crisis communications and issues affecting brand reputation.
  • Define and track PR KPIs beyond impressions (e.g., sentiment, share of voice, engagement, referral traffic) and provide regular performance reports.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Business, Marketing, Journalism, Communications, PR, or related field; Master’s preferred.
  • 7+ years of experience in public relations strategy and implementation in corporate or agency settings; experience managing agencies, budgets, and diverse product portfolios.
  • Strong knowledge of traditional PC and Apple software suites; familiarity with media tracking platforms (e.g., Cision, Meltwater, HubSpot) preferred.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication; ability to translate business goals into newsworthy stories.
  • Knowledge of social media channels (Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, Instagram, Pinterest, etc.) and digital PR tools (Prowly, Muck Rack, Prezly, Critical Mention) preferred.
  • Understanding of B2B/B2C office equipment markets and related industries preferred.

Compensation & Schedule

This role is hybrid. May require remote work up to two days per week; office days determined by managers.

Base salary: $105,000 – $125,000 per year. Additional compensation may include a bonus target (e.g., 15% at 100% of target) with eligibility dependent on performance and company plans.
