Overview
The User Experience Design Lead establishes and drives adoption of processes and methodologies to achieve the UX Strategy. You will be involved in every step of design, including research, ideation, mapping user flows, prototyping, creating mockups, and designing high-fidelity UIs. You will identify areas of need for design direction, lead user-focused thinking across product portfolios, and conduct and lead design reviews with designers at key project milestones, and steward projects into best-in-class experiences. You will guide projects to align with documented goals by empowering the UX team to drive innovative approaches.
Responsibilities
- Identify areas of need for design direction and thought leadership across product portfolios
- Bring clarity to a project with a design-thinking approach (e.g., affinity diagrams, user journeys, task flow diagrams, personas)
- Partner with product management, user research, content strategists, and developers to creatively solve user needs
- Lead planning activities, leveraging quantitative and qualitative research data to inspire product experiences that delight users
- Oversee UX research and design for up to 6-10 projects, with oversight of 4-6 designers. Includes coordination of usability testing activities and review/approval of deliverables crafted by other designers
- Ensure adherence to design best practices, our standards, and UX strategy
- Mentor and coach designers. Proactively help other designers level up their craft expertise
- Serve as a culture champion, modeling high standards of the UX craft and living Paychex values
- Sketch, wireframe, and create mockups and prototypes using Sketch and InVision
Qualifications
- Bachelor\'s Degree in Visual, Motion, Interaction, Information Architecture, HCI - Required
- 5 years of experience in professional product design experience, preferably working on B2B applications. Portfolio that showcases exceptional design, highlighting process and methods used to solve real-world problems. Experience working with design systems or pattern libraries.
- 2 years of experience in leading complex design projects in a team lead role.
Compensation
In the spirit of pay transparency, the starting base pay range for this position is $103,500 - $162,700 annually. This base pay range does not include other components that make up the total rewards package. Final compensation will be determined based on geographic location, skills, education, and/or experience and may fall outside this range.
